Mt Warning Trad First Ascent
Queenslanders Phil Box and Brad Carmady climbed a bold new route up the left side of the giant north facing slab of Mt Warning. Their route was 240m of slab, crack and spear lilly thrashing and graded 18. The route was led ground up in a single day, and no bolts were placed and called Crazy Moon - possibly after their epic night walk in. Word on the street is that Lee Cujes and Duncan Steel are about to attempt the first one day ascent of the mamoth 480m Lost Boys - a grade 24 sustained face that has only had two ascents.

Stevo Anderton Dies in BASE Accident

Well known Brisbane BASE jumper and climber Steve Anderton was killed yesterday whilst jumping from a cliff near Sunndal on Norway's north westcoast. He was part of the Steveo and Spice team featured in a BASE jumping video I edited for the Nati Film Festival last year. He was an amazing natural climber, happily cranking off grade 26+ routes on remote virgin rock and then parachuting back down again. I didn't know him that well, but his adventurist spirit, natural climbing ability and larrikin nature will forever be remembered by all who knew him. He was part of the Project Dare 'youth in need' fundraising expedition to Kyrgyzstan last year.
